Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Leadership That Inspire Change

Driving Research-Informed Strategies to Empower Educators and Transform Learning

About Me

I am an experienced educational leader with a proven track record of driving whole-school improvement through evidence-based teaching and learning strategies. Over the past decade, I have progressed from Chemistry Teacher to Head of Chemistry, Head of Science, leading a team of 21 staff and consistently delivering some of the highest academic outcomes across the school, including world-class IB results.

My expertise spans curriculum design, professional development, and educational innovation. I hold a Master’s in Education (Teaching and Learning) and have spearheaded transformative initiatives such as the Making it Stick programme, embedding cognitive science principles across Years 7–13 and engaging students, parents, and teachers in metacognitive strategies. I have also rewritten whole-school policies such as the Homework Policy to strengthen literacy and introduced impactful retrieval practices like Take Me Back a Term, now adopted school-wide.

Recognised as Science Teacher of the Year (Education Awards Middle East), I regularly present at leading conferences including GESS Dubai, BETT Middle East, and BSME TeacherCON DXB, sharing best practices in pedagogy and curriculum innovation. My leadership philosophy is collaborative and future-focused, empowering teams to innovate and excel while ensuring every student is challenged, supported, and inspired.

Patricia is one of those people who you meet and instantly know is heavily invested in both her subject and the students in her care. She has that infectious enthusiasm for science and any time I have been in her class I have seen nothing but outstanding pedagogical practices. Students regularly tell me they feel very confident in her care and feel both challenged and well supported. You can always tell things are working well when students are overjoyed upon learning they will be in her classes. Unsurprisingly, her students have consistently gone on to achieve incredibly high GCSE and IB Chemistry results.

Beyond the classroom, her ability to bridge academic research with classroom practice is one of her key strengths as a leader, something she harnesses for the benefit of not only the Science Department which she leads but also more broadly with all stakeholders she works with. Just ask her about teaching and learning and you will quickly realise what a deep well of knowledge and practical know-how she is. I have never left a conversation with her unimpressed as to how much she knows and how well she can back up what she says with demonstrable evidence. In more concrete terms, we have all been the beneficiary of her research-backed leadership through her delivery on a whole-school programme known as ‘Making It Stick’ which trained students, teachers and parents in evidence-based revision strategies. She is affectionately known as our ‘retrieval practice guru’ and one of our go-to heads of department when it comes to teaching and learning. Her training sessions are made all the more effective because Patricia is always well-prepared with practical and impactful resources which makes it easy to return to one’s own context with some immediately workable ideas, strategies and even lessons.

I have nothing but praise for Patricia’s commitment to excellence, be it in her own practice or in the support of others. She is truly an exemplary educator in all senses of the word.
